Megastructures. Gardens by the Bay
Description
Five million people live in a land area smaller than New York City. To make such a small and highly urbanized place livable, Singapore is embarking on its most ambitious project to date. Gardens by the Bay is a mega structure unlike anything else on earth. Three massive gardens -- the size of 177 football pitches -- will house thousands of plants from all over the planet. Two giant conservatories are to be constructed to protect millions of dollars' worth of trees, flowers and plants and man-made vertical gardens called Supertrees will stretch as high as 50 meters in to the sky. This is the country's most ambitious greening project to date and no one has ever attempted such designs before. 'Gardens by the Bay' is a awe-inspiring marvel where cutting edge engineering meets the green designs of tomorrow.
