When Will People Help
Description
Produced by social psychologist Daryl Bem and based on Darley and Latané's famous experiment, this program explores the reasons for bystander non-intervention and shows how laboratory and field experiments explain the social phenomenon. Discussing how the murder of Kitty Genovese sparked research into what is now known as the bystander effect, the program includes two Stanford University experiments in which test subjects demonstrate their ability or lack of ability to recognize and react responsibly to a public emergency.
