Investigating the past. Pompei
Description
For centuries, it has been thought that the surroundings of the Vesuvius had been left uninhabited after its first eruption in 79 AD. New researches were carried out in 2002, by a team of Italian & Japanese experts. The team, led by Professor Antonio de Simone, found out that, in fact, the area became repopulated for nearly three centuries, before vanishing in a second eruption. What were the habits of local people? Why does Dionysus play such a pivotal role in their lifestyle?
