Description
Looks at how the Internet was invented during the Cold War and launched in 1969, and yet it wasn't made for the public, it was developed for the army to communicate quickly and secretly, and was nothing like what we know today. Explores the history of the Internet, the 1972 introduction of electronic mail, and the launch of the World Wide Web; Tim Berners-Lee and his idea of a new way for scientists to share data by linking documents to one another over the Internet. Berners-Lee took his invention to the people: with a website and what follows is the Internet we know today. Looks also at the technology behind the early Internet.
