Paul Hogan, of Crocodile Dundee fame and international spokesperson for Australia, introduces viewers to his homeland, a land of many contrasts, from the Outback to the wonder of the Great Barrier Reef. North Queensland we see is a paradise known for its beautiful beaches, tropical rainforests, and the Great Barrier Reef. Koranda is the heart of the aborigine tribal lands and a vibrant artistic community. Dunk Island is a continental haven, mostly designated as National Park land with a lush rain forest and tropical wildlife. Edmond Banfield, the author of Confessions of a Beach Comber, was the first white man to settle here in 1897; also Captain Cook discovered the island in 1770 and named it after the First Lord of Admiralty and the Earl of Sandwich, George Montague Dunk. Lastly, we explore the Great Barrier Reef; designated as a Marine Park, this area is one of the world's best diving spots.
