Exploring the world. Taipei. Asia. 2

Description

Taipei is the capital city of the Republic of China and is located in Taiwan, an island in the Pacific off the coast of mainland China, which governs the island; it also is the administrative, commercial, manufacturing, and cultural center of the island. Here we find the National Palace Museum, which houses the largest collection of Chinese art in the world; the Longshan Temple, one of over 5,000 beautiful and ornate temples on the island; the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, erected in memory of the former president, where we witness the "changing of the guard"; and the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, a memorial to China's National Father, Dr.Sun Yat-sen. Nearby is the popular "Window on China" theme park, a miniature world of traditional Chinese buildings and sites in mainland China and Taiwan; plus "Mini Kingdom," which contains more than 50 sets of miniature landscapes found throughout the world, such as the Pyramids and Mount Rushmore. Back in Taipei we view a lavish set of the Chinese Opera Theater; then explore the famous night market in Snake Alley. Next we travel to the enchanting Sun Moon Lake, the island's largest lake, which is located in the center of Taiwan. Lastly, we visit the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village that built to preserve Taiwan's Aboriginal cultures and to help develop tourism.
