Its eyes are on the end of retractable stalks, it only has one foot that moves in ripples, its hermaphroditic and it's familiar to us all - it's the snail. However few people have a real understanding of snails, their evolution, their remarkable behaviour or their importance in the environment. But now time lapse and microfilming helps us view these slimy creatures in a new light.
