Karen opted instead to sell her Jeep and joined 'Community Car', a member based car-sharing organization. Coelacanth- The fish was a Coelacanth, dating back at least 400 million years. Believed extinct for 70 million years, its discovery in 1938 caused a scientific sensation. Island of Comoros fisherman Msa says villagers had caught six others before his, but did not know its significance. Some were killed and eaten. France Snow- One of France's most popular ski resorts is Meribel, in the heart of the famed three valleys. The region is the world's largest ski area with more than 600 kilometres of snow runs. In the past, good snow was a given, but since 1995 the world has experienced its eleven hottest years recorded. Resort owners know that heavy falls, such as in early 2008, are nowadays a rarity and they regularly turn to artificial methods to guarantee good skiing and good business. Lebanon Turtles- On the coast of southern Lebanon, near the village of Mansouri, is a small strip of sanctuary. Here, 58 year old Mona Khalil tirelessly works to safeguard critically endangered loggerhead and green turtles. Each morning Mona and friends patrol the one and a half kilometre stretch of beach, checking for new nests and ensuring the eggs are safe. Animal Soaps- Nowadays it's not only humans using natural grooming products. British company, Red Star Natural Soaps has a range to suit household pets--dogs, horses and even camels! Tim and Elaine Woodley started their home-based business making natural soaps but soon tapped into the potentially huge and lucrative worldwide market in animal products. Marine Parks- Millions of poor people depend on the ocean's rich resources for food and livelihoods. Yet in many countries these resources are overused and under-managed. In a vicious circle, lower fish stocks leads to more poverty, leads to further overfishing and so on.
