Gobi adventure. The forgotten desert

Description

Journey to one of the strangest and most beautiful landscapes in the world, the Alashan Desert. Amidst one section of the Alashan lies a hyper-arid region, textured like an egg-box with what many scientists consider to be the world's tallest sand dunes rising over 1,000 ft above a matrix of fresh and salt-water lakes. Because of its proximity to the Outer Mongolian border, the Alashan was off limits to outsiders until the demise of the Soviet Union. It has therefore been unknown to the outside world until recently. Journey to this majestic land with photographer George Steinmetz as he surveys this area using a paramotor aircraft to obtain unique aerial photographs of this incredible region.
