Taxi blues
Description
Winner of Best Asian Feature Documentary Film at the 2006 Syracuse International Film and Video Festival, Taxi Blues offers a compelling and at times disturbing glimpse into the dark underbelly of one of the largest cities in the world, Seoul. Director Choi-ha spent a summer as a cabbie in this city of 10 million and using a hidden camera inside his cab, captured the lives of ordinary citizens, many of whom shared intimate details of their lives with him. The documentary not only unveils the raw reality faced by everyday people, but as well it underscores the exploitative conditions under which taxi drivers are forced to work. This film documents in startling honesty the trials and tribulations that are so often symptomatic of large urban environments.
