Railway worker Ma Jianxin lives an aimless life by himself. One day he is sent to a training class at a worker's cultural center where he meets a young female teacher named Li Weihua. The two find that they have similar purpose and interests and fall deeply in love. Li suffers from a serious congenital heart disease which means they cannot have a love life.
