Researchers from Australia's James Cook University have discovered a type of algae that soaks up carbon dioxide at a rate that makes carbon emissions experts keen to invest. Synchrotron allows scientists to probe the chemistry behind diseases like multiple sclerosis, in order to find a cure. It is the newest and most sophisticated particle accelerator in the world.
