Connect. Episode 14
Description
Air flight safety engineers have developed a way to keep birds from being sucked into a plane's engine before take-off and after landing. By amplifying a version of a particular bird's distress call, Scarecrow Bio-Acoustics has been able to develop a system that scatters birds from an aircraft's flight path, therefore avoiding a potential disaster. Another technological advance for air travel has been the Tempest IC, a satellite connection using a TV-like device that air medical officers use to check a passenger's temperature, pulse etc and transmit important information to a medical station on the ground. Not only does this system add to the medical expertise on the plane, it can also prevent unnecessary emergency diversions.
