Swedish massage technique. Therapeutic applications
Description
Swedish Massage Technique: Therapeutic Applications provides a hands-on overview of a style of message that is particularly appropriate for physically active people--both as a method for enhancing physical (athletic) performance and as a way to help treat injuries. Avoiding extensive use of technical terms concerning the technique, the DVD looks at the five basic movements of Swedish massage: effleurage (long, generous circular strokes, as a rule); petrissage (the lifting and kneading of soft tissue); tapotement (any light or heavy percussive actions); friction (small, firm, and deep circular movements), and vibration (the lifting and shaking of individual muscles). The DVD explains and demonstrates the application of each of these movements on the major areas of the body. The DVD also includes cautionary remarks, as appropriate, concerning the various applications of the technique.
