Description
Nguyen Si Que lived in colonial French Indochina. In this interview he recounts the May 1, 1930 demonstration against the French in which colonial soldiers fired into the crowd and killed seven people. More demonstrations and repressions followed, continuing throughout this early period of the revolutionary movement. Mr. Que also describes the workings of the village governing council, or soviet.
