Primary cross curriculum. Pudsey Bolton Royd Primary School. Learning outside the classroom. 4
Description
Pudsey Bolton Royd is a 2-form entry primary with 450 pupils on roll and is situated in a new build on the edge of Leeds. Serving a largely south Asian community, mostly of Pakistani origin, the area is one of high deprivation and pupils largely have English as an additional language. The school has made great efforts to identify with the community and bring parents into the school; a visit from the cooking bus was a great success, encouraging parents to come together and share food. The school has a big growing area and has given all the children access to cooking - food is an engaging factor and common denominator. They have also seen cultural barriers come down within the P4C lessons which work as a part of their literacy work.
