Description
The programme opens with the dramatic and moving account of how one headteacher, Therese Allen, took over and turned around her failing primary school in a deprived area of Birmingham. Her consistent, caring and positive approach is a perfect introduction to the work of Sir Alan Steer. We explore his main purpose and proposals and then see how those working in primary are deploying the following initiatives. � Nursery home visits with parents � Nurture groups � The use of SEAL materials � Better parenting classes � Effective use of rules and sanctions Sir Alan peppers this programme with sharp observations and key points. He's optimistic about the future improvement of learning behaviour. 'It's all about tough love and respect'.
