1945. The year that changed the world
Description
In the last year of World War II, Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin each sought to impose his conception of the post-war world on the others. The US wanted to convert the world to its blend of democracy and capitalism; Britain sought to re-impose the pre-war colonial system and stem the tide of communism; the USSR sought to create as wide a zone of protection and dominion as possible. This series documents the actions and attitudes, the deceptions and double-dealings as the leaders struggled for control, setting the stage for the Cold War that followed.
