The Perdue family
Description
As a railway express agent, Arthur W. Perdue noticed that the poultry men loading their eggs and chickens onto the train seemed to be financially successful. In 1917, Arthur decided he was going to make poultry his business as well, and a Chicken Empire was born. From a backyard table-egg business that supported one family in the 1920s, Perdue has now grown into a multi-billion dollar business providing poultry and agricultural products on five continents. Known for their commitment to excellence, three generations of Perdues have guided this company through continued growth and change while holding on to the values inherited from its founder, "Mr. Arthur". Perdue Farms is still a privately owned company today.
