Two successful projects
Description
An in-depth look at two schools introducing a cross curriculum approach in contrasting ways. An exciting topic which allows for lots of subjects to be introduced is Rainforests and Ombersley Endowed First School's Year 3 and 4 class in Worcestershire have spent this term studying maths, literacy, geography, art, ICT and science as part of this project. Heath Mount Primary is an inner-city school in Birmingham which has gone from special measures to receiving an Outstanding recommendation from Ofsted. Their first themed week about Africa was influenced by parents who are new to Birmingham and who wanted to share their Somalian culture with the school community. Both schools highlight the importance of emotionally engaging children and how the National Curriculum is open to interpretation in many creative and inspirational ways.
