Who's going to Japan?
Description
The second programme in the series focuses on the UK Skills Selection Competition in Coventry and Warwickshire. 60 hopefuls will be whittled down to a team of 23 for the WorldSkills event in Japan in November. In a three day competition they must demonstrate they have both the skills and the personality to succeed. Held at several FE colleges, the competition is fierce as national champions battle it out with each other and against the WorldSkills standards that they'll have to reach to qualify for the team. We see in close-up the skills and techniques that these talented young people excel in. For some the pressure is too great and they withdraw, for others tears flow as they fail to make the team. For the victorious few, it's the start of an intensive period of training to try and reach the standards of skills and personal discipline WorldSkills demands. Insights into excellence and achievement are many in a fascinating portrayal of vocational skills at their best.
