Textiles
Description
Warwickshire's education department is a DfES 14-19 Pathfinder tasked to promote and improve collaboration between schools, FE colleges and training providers. Schools offer work-based learning opportunities to students of all abilities at KS4, providing every student with an opportunity to spend one day each week in the world of work. The programme features school students enrolled on City and Guilds courses delivering vocational qualifications in a broad range of textile-related skills. Warwickshire College's Henley Centre is collaborating with IDC textiles, an industrial provider, to design courses for KS4 students. Courses are run during the day and after school. The scheme provides a useful model for teachers delivering work-related learning opportunities and has been successful in improving progression to FE courses and in enhancing students motivation and classroom attendance.
