We have the technology
Description
Ease the Load is a magazine series designed to help teachers manage their workload and improve their work-life balance. This programme explores three technological advances that are making life easier for teachers. Broadfield Junior School in Hemel Hempstead reveals the sound system they use to gently amplify the teacher's voice. As well as reducing vocal strain and fatigue, it offers a much improved listening environment for pupils. In Clacton-on-Sea, Colbayns High School has replaced written registration with biometric fingerprint recognition technology. Students register for themselves before each lesson by placing their thumbs on a terminal in the classroom. To have a school without walls is the ambition of St Ambrose RC College in Cheshire. One simple way they have found to help is setting up an email system for homework. It is a fast and environmentally friendly way of filing homework and cutting down on use of paper and books to mark.
