House calls
Description
House calls by doctors are largely a thing of the past. But one doctor realized how vulnerable his frail elderly housebound patients were, and has devoted his practice to seeing them at home. In this way they are spared the necesssity of entering nursing homes. Dr. Mark Nowaczynski is both a physician and photographer in Toronto and his photographs of elderly patients capture their timeless humanity. This film will enable those caring for the elderly to understand what drives patients to maintain their independence at all costs. It shows that our health care system has not kept up with the changing demographics and spends too little on home care.
