Description

Michael Collins was a charismatic leader in Ireland's struggle for independence from British rule and came to realise that compromise was the key to peace. Most of his former colleagues disagreed and on 22 August 1922, he was gunned down in an ambush, although it's unknown who was ultimately behind the attack which ended his life.
