Develop international and intercultural learning opportunities for adult students.

2006: The English Department, with assistance from Polk Library, prepared a course proposal for a new trial lab course in the English Department. The information research methods lab (one credit hour) will be linked to an advance composition section. It is anticipated that the trial lab will be approved during fall 2006 and will be taught in spring 2007. Polk Library will be preparing the content of this lab in the fall, and one of its librarians will teach the trial lab in the spring.

Develop informational research methods lab.

2007:  The English Department and Polk Library received approval to offer a skills-based information literacy lab, coordinated with English 302, Advanced Composition, for fall 2007. A librarian will teach the one-credit hour lab. It will introduce methods of finding, evaluating and using library resources in the students’ areas of study.  An assessment and evaluation component will be included.  If successful, this trial course may be expanded and made a permanent part of the curriculum.
