SSS is my place...for all the help I need.
Look at all of the great things that we offer to help you achieve the goal of graduation.
Academic Advising
SSS offers intensive support for students in designing and understanding the implications of course selection, registration, and interpreting university academic policies and requirements for graduation. The major goal of the SSS staff is to guide students toward the successful completion of a bachelor's degree.
SSS advisors are trained to provide the same information as the Undergraduate Advisement Resource Center (UARC); as a result, SSS students are not required to visit the UARC before registering. Advisors in SSS go over your STAR with you each semester, providing you with an understanding of “major/minor” requirements and an update on your academic progress.
Currently your SSS advisor is not listed on your STAR so don’t be confused! You can still come see us for all your advising needs.
I Don’t Get This Stuff!!!
Whether you are completely lost in class or just want to have someone help you
maintain your good grades, SSS offers free tutoring for almost every
course on
campus. An individual meeting is required
with Margaret Martin, our tutoring coordinator, prior to tutoring. Tutoring is one-on-one with an experienced
student who took that class and sometimes is a small group of students in the
same class.
How do I apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships?
SSS advisors assist students by serving as a liaison between the student and the Financial Aid Office. SSS advisors are available to assist students in finding and applying for loans, grants, and scholarships to fund education.

I Don’t Know What I Want to Do?
SSS offers major and career
exploration activities in addition to assisting students with the job search or
graduate school enrollment process.
Personal Support
SSS assists students as they adjust to the academic, personal, and social demands of college.
Academic Seminars and Cultural Enrichment Activities
Interactive Activities are offered throughout the school year which promotes academic adjustment and success. SSS also offers opportunities for socio-cultural enrichment activities. SSS students are encouraged to take advantage of all academic and student support services at the university.
These can be used to meet the minimum 3 events required to qualify for the SSS scholarship.
Campus Resource Ambassadors: A Peer Mentoring Program
The peer mentoring program assists first-year and transfer students in the transition and adjustment to the University community. Click here for more info!
