Fredi Giesler, BA in Social Welfare (Pacific Lutheran University), MSW (University of Washington), and Ph.D. in Social Welfare (University of Washington).
Dr. Giesler joined the faculty in August, 2002, currently holds the rank of Associate Professor, and serves as the Department Chair/MSW Program Coordinator. She has over 20 years of social work practice experience, has been teaching at the college level since 1998, and been involved in program evaluation and research since 1992. Before joining academia, she was the Program Manager of the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Seattle (Children's Trust Fund). Dr. Giesler teaches macro practice and research courses in both the BSW and MSW programs. Her primary areas of practice/research interest are child and family welfare, prevention science, and policy practice. Dr. Giesler is a member of NASW, BPD and CSWE. She is currently working on research related to Early Head Start outcomes and social work policy practice.
