Global Health Unite For Sight: High Impact Volunteer Abroad Opportunities
Unite For Site supports eye clinics by investing human and financial resources in their social ventures to eliminate patient barriers to eye care. Volunteers work with local ophthamic nurses, optometrists, and ophthalmologists to support and assist the clinic in outreach programs that reduce barriers to health care, including financial, transportation, and education barriers. With the assistance of volunteers like you, Unite for Sight has restoreed sight to 19,549 patients and provided eyecare to 600,000. Three International Short-Term Immersion Programs
Southern Illinois Carbondale (SIUC) School of Social Work and The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) at Case Western Reserve University are once again teaming up to offer 3 international short-term immersion programs. Important to global learning is an understanding of how culture, values and history influence how societies address social issues, and the design of social interventions and policies. In December 2009, we travel to Bangladesh and in March 2010, to Isreal and May 2010 to Ecuador. All programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students (3-6 hours credit), faculty, alumni, and interested professionals (CEUs available). Students may take for course credit from SIUC, MSASS or Special Arrangements may be made with students' university to offer as an independent study course.
Bangladesh: December 26-January 10
Isreal: March 4-March 14
Ecuador: May 17-May 29
Approximate fee is $3900.00 (not including cost of course credit or professional development/CEUs). Costs includes international airfare, in-country travel, three meals a day, double occupancy accommodations as well as instructional materials, agency visits, guest lectures, program fees, as a non-refundable deposit of $250 is required to hold your spot.

Southern Miss has been teaching and learning in Jamaica since 1986, we invite your undergraduate and graduate students to join us in a variety of courses being taught in this wonderful setting.
