Application for Social Work Major (BSW) Degree and Liberal Arts
After completing general education requirements and Social Work courses 167, 220, and 298, the student submits a formal application for the BSW degree, normally in the Spring semester of the student's sophomore year. Applications are only processed in the Spring semester as the professional sequence begins in the Fall semester. The application material is to be completed and turned into the Department's Office, Swart Hall Room 230, by the announced due date (normally mid-March).
Only those who are formally admitted to the major will be permitted to enroll in the 300-level Social Work courses.
Social Work Advising
Students with an interest in Social Work are encouraged to meet with a Social Work Advisor to talk about Social Work careers and their educational plans. Advisors are assigned by alphabetical division of the students' last names. Social Work Department Advisors are:
A-H: Colleen Hansen
I-Z: Donna Altepeter
