Fredi Staerkel

Fredi Staerkel, BA in Social Welfare (Pacific Lutheran University), MSW (University of Washington), and Ph.D. in Social Welfare (University of Washington).

Dr. Staerkel joined the faculty in August, 2002 as an Assistant Professor. She has over 20 years of social work practice experience, over three years of college-level teaching experience, and ten years of program evaluation and research experience. Before moving to Oshkosh, she was the Program Manager of the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Seattle. Dr. Staerkel will be teaching Family Life Cycles, Research, and Generalist Practice with Groups this academic year. Her primary area of interest is in prevention science, especially as it relates to prevention of child maltreatment and promoting family well being. Dr. Staerkel is a member of NASW and the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD). She is currently working on Early Head Start Research and planning to work with Wisconsin's Children's Trust Fund on program evaluation issues.
