Transform Yourself -- Study Abroad
Whether you study abroad for a couple of weeks, a whole semester, or an entire year, your experience will transform your life.
The Social Justice Program currently offers Social Justice 399:
Activism, Gender, and Social Justice in Tanzania

The January interim study abroad trip to Tanzania focuses on gender, social justice, and communication-related issues in the Kilimanjaro region of Northern Tanzania. We visit village schools, a hospital, coffee cooperative, women's dairy cooperative, women's centre (where women learn skills and trades), and KIWAUKUKKI (an HIV/AIDS activist organization). We also stay at Pete and Charlotte O'Neal's United African Alliance Community Centre, where we learn a traditional Tanzanian dance. And finally, we hike up part of Mt. Kilimanjaro and go on a safari in the Ngorongoro Crater!

This trip is offered every two years; the next trip is scheduled for January 2014. Students can sign up for Social Justice 399, Communication 405, or Women's Studies 399 all of which are upper level electives for three credits.
