Aww! I love seeing pictures of my past teachers and friends coming together in Oshkosh to stand up for what they believe in! Cheering for you in Michigan!
I was so proud of all of us student, and faculty as a whole. There are moments in history when one can be defined by the actions they take or do not take. As we stood united on that day, and on hopefully more days to come I, with a heavy heart pray, that our voices will be remembered.
I would like to take a moment and give thanks to the following teachers:
*Dr. Bruno- You have taught me that standing up and being heard is as important as breathing sometimes, especially when it comes to social work.
*Dr. Brown- You teach on leadership and how to organize, but let it not be mistaken we, as your students see a true leader in you and are honored to learn from you.
*Amy Fisher-Williams- You are an inspirational woman that seems to have a motor that doesn’t stop when it comes to the commitment to the students. I thank you for all of your hard work (Your HBSE class was still tough though).
*Dr Ebert- I sit in your class and listen in awe to the wisdom that you share with us students. There is no amount of money that can be put on the knowledge that you so willingly give to us.
**Last But not least***
Dr. Carol Hand- To anyone that is reading this and has not had a chance to meet a person that just by sitting in there presence you feel like a better person, than I suggest you find Dr. Hand. I want you to know that on behalf of all of the SW students you are truly and inspirational woman. Your words carry wisdom, and I want you to know that I personally feel like my life was made richer just because I knew you. It is said this statement comes from Ralph Waldo Emerson, but others say it does not; But it says … “To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, That is to have succeeded. Dr. Hand, you can rest your head at night knowing that you have been one of the greatest success stories to the students of the UWO SW program. I give you my word that I will be the best Social Worker I can be, because a little woman, that has audacity to carry herself like she is 10 ft tall, inspired me to not settle for being a difference in only one arena, but to realize that a stone thrown into the ocean from florida, has the potential to become a tidal wave through out the rest of the world.
From the depths of my heart I want to thank all of you for everything. The students and the teachers for a moment were on a level that was based on a level of heirarchy, but on soley on being there for each other when we really needed it.
