Youth Track, Advocacy Event and Scholarships Planned for Summit
Youth participants at the 5th National Summit on Smokeless and Spit Tobacco will take part in a special youth track which is designed to educate youth about candy flavored products and prepare them to take part in an educational advocacy event while at the summit.
After completing the educational track, youth will have the opportunityto work with longtime tobacco control advocate Yes Duffy to prepare for
the educational advocacy event which will focus on educating the people of Madison about the way the tobacco industry markets these deadly
The advocacy event will likely consist of several different elements some of which may include handing out palm cards, performing skits and
completing demonstrations to call attention to the packaging of marketing of candy flavored products.
Planning is underway to offer a number of scholarships for youth to attend the summit. We hope these scholarships will include assistance for roundtrip travel to/from Madison, free accommodations and complimentary full summit registration. Please check back at this website for further news regarding these scholarships.
