SIS Basic Principles
Draft.

1 RESOURCES. SIS decisions will be based on available UW Oshkosh fiscal and/or personnel resources and workloads.

2. RESPONSE TIME. Satisfactory SIS response time must be maintained.

3. ENHANCEMENTS. The UW Oshkosh SIS will be installed within the capabilities of the basic PeopleSoft system. After successful installation of the basic system, priority will be given to requested enhancements that are “needs” rather than “wants”. A “need” is defined as an SIS feature that is not currently available, that is necessary to implement UW Oshkosh, UW System, or Board of Regents policies, and that cannot be accommodated through some other acceptable and practical existing mechanism or process. If conflicts arise, the Executive Committee will be the final decision-making authority.

4. SECURITY AND ACCESS. Access to the SIS will be controlled by UW Oshkosh security authorization and by PeopleSoft SIS security systems. UW Oshkosh officials who have a legitimate educational interest (i.e. access is necessary to fulfill the individual’s professional responsibility; the individual has a right to know and a need to know) will be provided the necessary access privileges.

5. MAINTAIN BASIC SIS. UW Oshkosh will use the basic PeopleSoft SIS to process data as much as possible. SIS system and panel changes and other enhancements will be minimal.
