Welcome! UWOSHRM is the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh's student chapter of the National Society for Human Resource Managment (SHRM). SHRM is the world's largest association dedicated to human resources management with over 170,000 members. The national SHRM designates UWOSHRM as a "mega" student chapter, with over 40 members. We are proud to be affiliated with SHRM and sponsored by the local Fox Valley Chapter of SHRM.We hope you will consider joining our organization. You can find a Member Application here.

Why should I join UWOSHRM?

There are lots of reasons. UWOSHRM offers its members many opportunities to get involved and contribute to the success of the Chapter, the COBA, and the larger community. Each semester we engage in community service activities, social events, and professional development activities.

Professional Development Opportunities:

Establish Business Contacts Participation in Professional Development Day (PDD)
Attending Fox Valley SHRM Meetings
Participation in Job Shadow Month
Participation in Company Tour
Develop and strengthen professional skills Resume critiquing by professionals at PDD
Practicing interview skills with a professional at PDD
Working on semester project for outside business organization through Projects Team
Obtain an internship Becoming a member, which allows you to receive emails regarding open internships
Attending weekly meetings; internships are announced and put in the SHRM internship folder
Receiving priority notification and consideration on internships

Personal Development Opportunities:

Establish relationships with other HR majors Attending SHRM social events
Attending weekly meetings
Working on fundraising activities with Fundraising Team
Contribute to the community Participating in highway clean-ups
Working on activities with the Community Service Team

Academic Development Opportunities:

Expand knowledge of HR topics Attending monthly speakers
Becoming a National SHRM member and receiving updates on current HR issues
Writing letters to State Representatives by participating on the Political Action Team
Establish relationships with HR Faculty Participating in PDD

How do I join UWOSHRM?

Joining UWOSHRM is easy! We welcome all UW Oshkosh students regardless of major. If you are interested in UWOSHRM, we encourage you to attend one of our General Member or Speaker meetings to learn more about what we do. If you already know you want to be a part of this exciting and active student chapter, complete the application form and bring it to one of our meetings, or give it to any of the Executive Board members, along your dues payment. Dues for UWOSHRM are $20 for the semester, $35 for the year.

When I join UWOSHRM am I automatically a member of the National SHRM?

No. Joining UWOSHRM only provides you with membership in the UW Oshkosh Student Chapter. Joining the National SHRM provides you with many additional benefits, including a monthly magazine and access to research papers and other resources on the National SHRM website.
