About Us
Shakespeare on the Fox (SOF) is an exciting community collaboration that evolved from a small, local partnership into a broad regional effort, per its mission statement, “to enrich and enliven the communities of the Fox River Valley through the experience of Shakespeare.”
Begun as a partnership in 2004 between the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (Appleton), the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and the Grand Opera House of Oshkosh, the organization has expanded to include the collaboration of Lawrence University (Appleton), American Players Theatre (Spring Green), the Fox Valley Symphony, the Fond du Lac Arts Council, and the Oneida Nation Arts Program. Additional community organizations are encouraged to participate on a year-to-year basis, as is reflected in the calendar of events.
The objective of Shakespeare on the Fox is to bring together the communities of the Fox River Valley by making available the experience of live theatre in northeast Wisconsin.
By underscoring the modern relevance of Shakespeare’s works, participating organizations have created a successful and recognized annual arts program that encourages participation at all levels of the Fox Valley community.
