WI Div. B Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is an interscholastic competition designed to increase student interest and enthusiasm in science and improve the quality of science education. The Science Olympiad tournaments consist of 20-25 individual and team events which students prepare for during the school year. These challenging, fun events motivate and confront students from all ability levels with both theoretical and practical science problems. The emphasis is on participation, interaction, learning, having fun, and developing team spirit. For the past 26 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premiere science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to nearly 6,000 teams in 49 states. Science Olympiad's ever-changing event lineup provides a variety of career choices and exposure to practicing scientists and mentors. In the words of a Science Olympiad alumnus: "I consider Science Olympiad the most important and influential activity I participated in during my middle school and high school career."
2012 State Div. B Competition Date
March 17, 2012 - UW Oshkosh
STATE Schedule 2012
New for 2012! For the Entertainment time between the last event and the time we start our awards we will be having a Parade of Teams that will begin at 2:00. Each team is encouraged to participate. You can elect 6 team members to represent your team and have them carry a banner, flag, dress up to a theme for your team, etc.(be creative!) This will be happening in Albee gym. You need to submit a short paragraph of 150 words or less describing and introducing your team. There are some video clips on the National Science Olympiad web site www.soinc.org/video_clips that you can view for some ideas. Remember this will be read aloud as we do the parade of teams so be sure to effectively introduce your team while telling us a little something that is personal to your team or school. This needs to be submitted to sciout@uwosh.edu by Friday, March 2.
After the Parade of Teams we'll have a trial event that students and coaches will be competing against each other. More to come on that.
