What
was the most interesting thing you learned during the
Scientist-in-Residence week?
|
- I thought when we tested to see how
much starch was in foods. That was interesting. (4th
grade, food science)
- The most interesting thing was when
we dropped iodine on the food. (4th grade, food
science)
- That we can weigh gum and see how
much sugar it has. (4th grade, food science)
- I learned that there is something
called a simple machine. (3rd grade, simple
machines)

heavier person. (2nd grade, simple machines)
- The lever was neat I did not know
that the lever could do that. (2nd grade, simple
machines)
- That the Earth has tons of layers of
rock. (3rd grade, geoscience)
- I learned that you can measure how
high a mountain is with a contour map. (3rd grade,
geoscience)
- I think the metamorphic rock was very
interesting. (3rd grade, geoscience)
- I think the most interesting thing
when we worked with the clay balls and the toothpicks.
(3rd grade, geoscience)

Do
you think science is important?
|
- Yes. I just think it is neat to learn
about science. (3rd grade, simple machines)
- Yes because it is fun working with
the people that came in. (5th grade, food
chemistry)
- Yes because it is fun and great for
experimenting and learning. (5th grade, food
chemistry)
- Yes, I do because if we didn't know
science we wouldn't know when things will happen. (4th
grade, electricity)
- Yes, because people need to have
science to know about the Earth. (5th grade,
geoscience)
- I think science is important because
science helps us know about the weather and science helps
us know history. (5th grade, geoscience)
- Yes, because you can learn and maybe
I could be a scientist some day. (3rd grade, scientific
method)

Comments
|
- I love it! (1st grade, scientific
method)
- It was super. (1st grade, scientific
method)
- It was the BEST! (1st grade,
scientific method)
- Thank you for eating lunch by us.
(4th grade, electricity)
- Ever since you came I learned a lot
about foods with starch in them and what gums have the
most sugar in them. (5th grade, food science)
- I learned a lot about science but the
best thing that I learned was that science is fun! (5th
grade, food science)
- My son was very excited about school
during the three days that he learned about science. He
rarely shares much about this day, but he told us all
about what he was learning during science week with much
interest and enthusiasm. (K, scientific
method)
- I wot lim to ckam dack year (I want
them to come back next year, K, scientific
method)

General
comments from 4th grade electricity class project about what
they learned.
|
- It was very interesting learning that
everything is made of atoms, which have protons (positive
particles) and electrons (negative
particles).
- I had so much fun I ordered an
electricity set.
- I learned a lot more but if I wrote
it all down, I would have a twenty page summary about
scientists-in-residence week.
- One thing that was my favorite was
when we got to put our hand on the Vandegraf and our hair
would stick up.
- I had so much fun trying to get the
light bulb to light. I finally got the circuit to light
the bulb.
- I learned how to put a circuit
together.
- First I want to talk about how you
transport all these things in one or two
vehicles.
- I had fun when we stood and we either
repelled or attracted each other.
- I hope that sometime the Science
Program can come again. I am looking forward to learning
more.

4th
Grade Scientific Method (Bubblemania)
|
- I
had a great time! I might be a scientist when I grow up.
I'd love to. You really made me love being a
scientist.
- Thank
you for coming to our class to help us "think" like a
scientist.
- I
really loved the part when we got to think up the the
test for how to get the sugar out.
- I
liked making the chart the best. I liked weighing the gum
too. I like making experiments. It was fun!
