Small Business Consulting

Whether you’re thinking about starting a business or are already in business, the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is here to assist you.

Pre-Venture Assistance

Our experienced counselors work with those thinking about starting a business of their own in developing the marketing, financial and management assessments needed to write a successful business plan. Business plans are the key to securing both startup financing and provide a “road map” for you to follow during the critical first year of a new business.

Startup Businesses

Our experienced counselors work with those who have started their own business, and are in that critical year. For some businesses, our assistance consists of addressing a specific challenge or opportunity involving marketing, finance, management, personnel or other topics. For others, we assist them in developing or updating a business plan that builds on their past success and provides a “road map” for future growth and expansion.

Established Businesses

In addition to startups, we also work with those who have been in business for many years and are now faced with new challenges or opportunities. Our assistance ranges from helping secure needed financing to developing marketing strategies for new products and services. We can also assist with the issues associated with the sale or merger of a business. And when your needs are outside of our area of expertise, we use our knowledge of local and regional resources to find the assistance you need.

New Products & Inventions

The Small Business Development Center staff can also assist those who have developed new products and services to determine their commercial potential and develop a plan to take advantage of that potential. Our assistance ranges from conducting preliminary patent searches and market research, to developing a strategy for attracting the capital needed for further research & development.
