University Policies

The Repeat Policy

Students may repeat courses to improve their grade on a space available basis at the time they are scheduled to register. They will no longer need to wait until 30 days before the term begins. Students may repeat each course only once and only if they received a grade lower than C (less than 2.00) in the course.

The Academic Amnesty Policy

Effective Fall 2005, allows some undergraduate students to remove certain grades from their official grade point average.

The 165 Credit Policy

The 165 Credit Policy which began in Fall 2004, impacts Wisconsin resident undergraduates who have earned 165 credits (or 30 credits more than required for their degree programs, whichever is greater).

The Official UW Oshkosh Grade Point Policy

Starting for the Fall 2007 semester, the official UW Oshkosh grade point will only count UW Oshkosh courses. (Currently the University uses UW Oshkosh courses AND transfer courses in the official GPA.) This will NOT remove any previous transfer credits from your official grade point average. This will only impact transfer credits taken that will first appear on your transcript starting in Fall 2007.

FERPA

(Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) provides that, with certain explicit exceptions, students have the right to determine who will see their educational records (confidentiality) and students have the right to see their education records (accessibility).

Graduation Honors Policy

The official grade point average determines graduation honors and whether graduation is cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude.

Students, whose official grade point average qualifies them for graduation with honors the term before they graduate, will be recognized at the Commencement Ceremony. Honors designation on transcripts will be based upon the students completed academic record.

Official grade point requirements for graduation honors:

Beginning with students graduating in Fall 2010, a minimum of 60 units (crs.) must be earned at UW Oshkosh for a transfer student to be eligible for graduation honors.

Attendance Policy

While attendance and punctuality are under the control of each instructor, students are expected to be present for each regularly scheduled class session. Students are directly responsible to each of their instructors for attendance.

Accommodations for Religious Beliefs Policy

If a student's religious beliefs creates a scheduling conflict with an examination or or other academic requirement, the student shall be permitted to make up an examination or other academic requirement at another time or by an alternative method, without any prejudicial effect.
