Intrdscp. 125 Comprehensive Study Skills

One graduation credit: Offered every seven weeks and winter interim

Learn how to learn at the college level -- quickly and efficiently!   Strategies for time management, memory, notetaking, textbook study, test preparation, and test taking are reviewed and practiced.   Appropriate for both beginning and experienced students . Every student gets a weekly individual appointment to review course objectives and individual progress. This course counts toward graduation, lasts only seven weeks, and is taken by close to 700 students every year.

Second seven-week sessions begin October 22-Oct. 28 and March 30-April 3

Intrdscp. 169 College Reading Strategies

One graduation credit    Offered every seven weeks and winter interim

Fine tune comprehension skills, increase reading speed, and develop a more sophisticated vocabulary using Newsweek magazine and 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary .   Class includes discussion and practice in techniques with a minimum of lecture. Appropriate for both beginning and experienced students . Makes an excellent companion course with Intrdscp. 125 Comprehensive Study Skills.   Counts toward graduation and lasts only seven weeks. The cost of materials for this class is very low.

Second seven-week sessions begin on October 30 and March 31.

Intrdscp.100 Developmental Reading /World Geography

Two transcript credits (counts toward GPA, but not graduation)

Students must also be enrolled in the appropriate section of Geography 102

Using the geography textbook and actual class notes, students work on fine-tuning their ability to learn and remember.   The instructor will attend all the lectures, read the textbook, and take notes along with the students.   No extra textbook will be needed and homework will be directly relevant to the geography course itself.

For students enrolled in Geog 102 with Prof. Alberts ONLY: Register for Section 002 - T/R 11:30-12:30
