INTERNATIONAL FILM SOCIETY

International Film Series books, promotes, and screens movies not normally accessible to UW Oshkosh students and Oshkosh residents. This includes international films, independent films, silent films, and classic Hollywood movies. Student director receives honorarium. Douglas Heil, Professor and Program Coordinator, is the faculty advisor for Film Society.

 

 


NATIONAL BROADCASTING SOCIETY

UW Oshkosh has one of the largest chapters of the National Broadcasting Society. The purpose of NBS is to enhance the development of college and university students involved in broadcasting, cable, telecommunications, and other electronic media. Each year the Oshkosh chapter produces a telethon to raise awareness and funds against children's diseases; celebrities such as Ben Affleck have helped us out! Kevin Backstrom is the faculty advisor for NBS.

 


OSHKOSH FILM SOCIETY

UW Oshkosh Film Society is a great way for students interested in motion pictures to gain experience outside of the classroom. Film Society views, discusses, and produces films. The University finances all projects produced through Film Society. Membership is open to all UW-Oshkosh students. You do not have to be an RTF major to join. New members are always welcome. Dues are $10 per member per semester. Dues are waived for new members for the first semester. Douglas Heil, Professor, is the faculty advisor for Oshkosh Film Society.


 


TITAN TV

Titan TV is the official UW Oshkosh cable channel and the dominant component on the city of Oshkosh educational access channel. Titan TV airs on Warner Cable TV, Channel 66 and Charter Cable TV, channel 19. For Titan TV, students create, write, and produce original programs on a weekly basis. Programming includes campus news, live Titan sporting events and commentary, music videos, student government, “Reel TV,” and more! Troy Perkins, is the faculty advisor for Titan TV.

WRST has been broadcasting from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus for over 42 years. Located at 90.3 on your FM dial, WRST prides itself in providing a diverse programming format to Oshkosh , Wisconsin and other Fox Valley communities. The WRST call letters stand for Radio Station of the Titans. Throughout our history, WRST has been dedicated to providing quality alternative programming to area listeners while serving as training facility for University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students, primarily in the Radio-TV-Film Major. Each year WRST sponsors a concert for the Humane Society. Ben Jarman, Director of Radio Services, is the faculty advisor for WRST.

 

 

SBE Student Chapter 80.1 (UWO )

SBE student Chapter 80.1 is the newest student organization serving students in Radio-TV-Film. The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) is a national non-profit professional society. The Society is designed to serve the professional needs of those persons engaged in Broadcast Engineering. SBE is devoted to advancing all levels and types of broadcast engineering through fellowship, education, industry links and professional recognition. The student chapter meets regularly during the school year, and includes field trips to local broadcast facilities. Keith Kintner is the faculty advisor for the group.
