PA Minor Curriculum

ABOUT THE PA MINOR PROGRAM

PA Minor Curriculum (24 credits minimum)

The PA Minor curriculum consists of two parts for a total of 24 credit minimum:

  • Required courses (12 credits)
  • Elective courses, including internship (12 credits)

Required courses

Group A: The following must be completed as required:

  • PUB ADM 102 Contemporary Public Issues (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 221 Introduction to Public Administration (3 credits)

Group B: Two (2) of the following are also required:

  • PUB ADM 307 Administrative Law and Procedure (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 361 Campaign Management (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 362 Public Personnel Administration (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 363 American Bureaucracy and Political Process (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 364 Administrative Leadership and Behavior (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 365 Politics of Emergency Management (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 366 Emergency Planning and Administration (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 369 Government and the Economy (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 390 Comparative Public Administration (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 391 Environment and Energy Management (3 credits)

Electives courses

The remaining 12 credits can include any of the following:

  • Political Science 245 Political Methodology (Fall Semester) (3 credits)
  • Political Science 253 Introduction to Law (3 credits)
  • Political Science 321 American Public Policy (3 credits)
  • Political Science 324 U.S. Presidency (3 credits)
  • Political Science 394 Community Power Systems (3 credits)
  • PUB ADM 307 Administrative Law & Procedure (3 credits)

  • PUB ADM 362 Public Personnel Administration (3 credits)

  • Criminal Justice 340 Police Administration (3 credits)

Note:

  • Criminal Justice 212 Managing Criminal Justice Organizations may be substituted for PUB ADM 221 Introduction to Public Administration.
  • PUB ADM course descriptions are available here.

Internship  

  • Students are expected to complete a 3 hour internship for the Public Administration Minor. It is part of the 24 hour minor
