43 Years of Educating Leaders in Public Service
We invite you to explore the opportunities that the Department of Public Administration in the College of Letters and Science offers to you!
Our mission is to provide graduate and undergraduate students with an understanding of the field of the public administration and the leadership skills required for public service. We envision UW Oshkosh Public Administration graduates to be exceptional leaders in their public service organizations and communities.
With its commitment to academic rigor, public service, and leadership excellence, the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. Its comprehensive, career-oriented curriculum with three major emphases in General Public Administration, Health Care Agency Administration, and Law Enforcement prepares students for coveted leadership roles in diverse public, nonprofit and business organizations. Students will receive instruction from dedicated faculty members who are known nationally and internationally for their research, educational work, or community service.
The MPA program at UW Oshkosh is also competitive, when it comes to affordability, with similar programs in the state of Wisconsin while delivering quality, marketability, and convenience. It can be completed in as few as two years, with offerings in fall, spring and summer semesters. It is open to mid-career professionals as well as those looking to begin their careers. We welcome in-state, out-of-state, and international students. We are also proud to have veterans as students, and greatly appreciate their service to the nation. Faculty and students' diverse educational and cultural backgrounds enhance the classroom experience and allow for many networking and research opportunities.
The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management is designed for students who wish to enhance their skills in health care management to function effectively in today's complex health care environment.
The undergraduate Public Administration Minor provides students with the knowledge to begin a public administration career and to help them make decisions about what direction they want their career to take.
All three programs embody the department's core values of inclusivity, responsiveness, service, teaching excellence and faculty satisfaction.
We welcome you to come join us in UW Oshkosh!
