After joining the faculty in 1972, Hintz served as Director of the MPA Program, Chair of the Department of Public Affairs, and Associate dean of the College of Letters and Science. He is an acknowledged expert in local government, organizational theory, and intergovernmental relations. A member of the Oshkosh Common Council, and Mayor of the City of Oshkosh, Hintz has been active in community affairs since his arrival on campus.
