Applying For Independent Study and Field Projects
An Independent Study Contract must accompany your registration for an Independent Study course. This form can be obtained from the MPA Office. Before you can register, you must develop a topic and a work plan that is approved by an MPA faculty member. Do this well in advance of the start of the semester. Registration must be complete by the middle of the first full month of the semester.
You must have been advanced to candidacy and have an approved field project proposal before you will be allowed to register for the field project. Both of these processes need to be completed and approved by the MPA faculty and the Graduate School. The "Admission to Candidacy" process should be completed when a student has accumulated between nine and twenty-one credits. The deadline for registering for the field project is in late February or late September (semester-dependent). The Graduate School requires near-final copies of field projects about a month early so they can be checked for style/format. Call the MPA Office at 920-424-3230 for:
