Welcome from the Provost

The Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is the principal administrative center for academic affairs on campus. As UW Oshkosh's chief academic officer, the Provost is responsible for the supervision of all colleges, faculty, instructional academic staff and academic programs at the university. The Provost reports directly to the Chancellor and serves as the campus representative in the Chancellor's absence. Other positions in the office include the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Curricular Affairs and Student Academic Achievement.

Provost (2010)The office is actively involved in strategic planning on campus and has been the chief architect of the Academic Program Plan and its annual updates. It also plays a vital role in the ten-year re-accreditation process of the university administered by the Higher Learning Commission.

The office directs a number of national and UW System academic initiatives, including: the Liberal Education Initiative (known nationally as Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) and on campus as General Education Reform); Inclusive Excellence; Give Students a Compass; the American Democracy Project; the Wisconsin Transfer Equity Study; the Campus Climate Survey; and the Equity Scorecard. UW Oshkosh campus initiatives supported by the office include: the First-Year Experience Program; the Titan Advantage Program; the Emerging Scholars Program; and the Early Alert Program.

The office has played a significant role in efforts to plan the new academic building for the College of Business and units within Letters and Science that is scheduled for completion in fall 2011. It also helped establish the LGBTQ Resource Center and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and refurbished the Multicultural Education Center.

Positions reporting to the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs include: the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence; the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement; the Dean of the College of Letters and Science; the Dean of the College of Business; the Dean of the College of Nursing; the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services; the Director of Grants and Faculty Development; the Director of Information Technology; the Director of Graduate Services; the Director of Library Studies; the Director of Academic Advising; the Registrar; the Director of the University Honors Program; the Director of International Education; the Director of Institutional Research; the Director of the Center for Academic Resources; the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning; the Director of Sustainability (co-report with Administrative Services); the Director of the Women's Center; the Director of the LGBTQ Resource Center; and the University Leadership Fellow for Academic Affairs.
