Women in Engineering Career Day
Brief Description: The activities and discussions of the day are designed to introduce young women in grades 8 - 12 to the engineering profession. The program is facilitated by professional women engineers and current UW-Platteville engineering faculty and students.

Sky's the Limit
Brief Description:  This event, presented by the Girls Scouts of Green Hills Council and the UW-Platteville Women in Engineering Program with a grant from Lockheed Martin, will introduce high school girls to careers in engineering and technology. Throughout the weekend girls will work in teams to create a balsa wood tower that will be tested on an earthquake simulator.  A weekend and follow-up Saturday are included in the program.

College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science EXPO
Brief Description: Each year at Expo, departments, programs, and organizations throughout the College of EMS present demonstrations and displays to highlight the excitement and challenge of engineering, mathematics, and science. In the past, teachers and students have found our Expo to be very encouraging, exciting, and informative.  Several UWP student organizations are involved with the contests, demonstrations, and exhibits.  Visitors may opt to participate in some design competitions.  Some competitions require registration and a minimal fee - please see the web page for additional information.

When:  Thursday, April 3, 2008
Where: UW-Platteville campus
Registration Deadline: None - just come!
Fee:  None.  A few of the contests may require registration and a minimal fee.

Science and Technology Day: Pioneering Your Future
Brief Description: This event is designed for 6th-9th grade girls and will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008. (A similar program for girls in grades 1-3 and 4-6 will be offered the same day in conjunction with the Girl Scouts of the United States.) Come join us for a fun and exciting day of math, science, and technology exploration. Get involved in hands-on, interactive sessions presented by UWP faculty members and student groups.

When: Saturday, March 8, 2008
Where:  UW-Platteville campus
Registration Deadline: February 22, 2008 (registrations to begin no later than December 2007)
Fee:  $20 per girl

Piecing it all Together: Hands on activities in STEM
Brief Description: The program is designed to introduce girls in grades 7-12 to a variety of fun, hands-on activities in the fields of
science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  Participants will take part in over 10 hands-on activities throughout the weekend.

When:  Friday - Sunday, April 18-20, 2008
Where:  UW-Platteville Living and Learning Center
Registration Deadline: March 28, 2008 (Registrations begin in Spring 2008)
