Class Matters: Breaking Down Class Barriers in the Workplace and the Classroom

Presented By: Betsy Leondar-Wright

Monday, April 16, 2007
12 noon - 1:00 PM

Why You Should Attend:
University of Wisconsin System faculty and staff have the potential to contribute even more to the personal and professional success of Wisonsin's people - if they have the knowledge and tools to tap into the power of class diversity. By understanding class, we can collaborate more closely in our workplaces and better serve our clients and students (particularly those who are the first generation in their family to attend college.)

Betsy Leondar-Wright is a leading consultant and writer on the topic of building alliances across classes. She is the author of Class Matters: Cross-Class Alliance Building for Middle-Class Activists, and is the co-author of The Color of Wealth: The Story Behind the U.S. Racial Wealth Divide. In addition, she is on the board of Class Action, a non-profit that raises consciousness about class and money, and served as the communications director for United for enlightening and practical workshops. For more information, visit www.classmatters.org.

Leondar-Wright's presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Co-sponsors for the event include the UW Colleges and UW-Extension Status of Women Committee, UW System Women's Studies Consortium and UW Ssytem Women and Science Program.
